TOWN WARRANT ARTICLE FOR USE OF FREE CASH
Turf Up is committed to the effort to privately fundraise for this project, but was granted approval from towns to use warrants/free cash to move forward with Design, Engineering and Permitting.
PRIVATE FUNDRAISING
Private (individual and corporate donations) + grants will make Turf Up a reality.
REVENUE POTENTIAL , MAINTENANCE & REPLACEMENT FUNDS
Masconomet High School’s location is well-positioned to promote field rentals based off proximity to I-95 as well as access to private sports clubs and facilities who require fields for weekend practices and summer camps.
Rental revenue is unlikely to cover 100% of the replacement costs due to it being difficult to predict the timing of “full replacement” which is dependent on investment in annual maintenance.
Additional fundraising by Turf Up may be required to close any gap between replacement costs and accumulated rental revenue. If a gap still remains, taxpayers could be asked to help close it.
Between Winter 2019 and Fall 2020, Turf Up Masco privately raised funds via the Masconomet Youth Football 501(c)(3) for the exploratory studies requested by the School Committee and completed by Stantec & BerryDunn.
