We Need YOU!

As you may know, a group of volunteers – Turf Up Masco – has been working for many years on the initiative to bring a privately-funded turf field initiative to Masconomet High School. At a high level, the project is a phased one that would include new fields, lighting, stadium seating and a new concessions/field house. It would serve any and all Masconomet sport teams that utilize field space (soccer, football, field hockey, lacrosse, baseball and softball). There are also additional usage applications such as rentals to Tri-Town youth organizations and/or external tenants for things like sports club usage and summer camps.

We have received the green light from the Masconomet School Committee to begin work on fundraising for this project. This is tremendous for us and we thank them for their support. They have worked hand in hand with not only the athletic department, but also with our Turf Up Committee. As a team, we have reviewed feasibility reports, run P&L sheets and interviewed all our neighboring towns to learn about their experiences and best practices.

It’s time to move forward to our next steps, but we cannot do this without your help. We need a stakeholder from each High School Booster organization and each Tri-Town youth organization to assist us in our efforts. We need support and representation from across the board for not only our High School teams, but also for those who utilize the fields as renters today and High School athletes tomorrow.

We also specifically have immediate roles to fill within the team, More roles will be defined as we move forward.

• Finance lead: this person will handle our bankroll with respect to expenses, donations and coordination between Turf Up, vendors and Masco Youth Football
• Experts in Corporate Gifting, Sponsorship, Fundraising, Pitch Decks: these people will help us structure our existing and future sponsorship opportunities, outreach to corporate donors, and provide us with a comprehensive, professional pitch deck
• Liaisons to Boxford Conservation Commission: our next milestone will be to work closely with Boxford Conservation as we raise the funds for comprehensive site plans that will meet the needs of our project but not disrupt the local conservation lands adjacent to the school

Our next steps in this project are significant and a heavy lift. We need your help to ensure that we can move this project along to the next phase and reach our eventual goal.
